Default Car alarm

Hello all,
The alarm on my 2002 V70 keeps going off randomly. Sometimes it is ok for weeks and then perhaps only half an hour. Have had to turn it off at night, as I don't need a smack in the mouth from angry neighbours. Has any body got any ideas before I put the car into a Volvo dealer for diagnosis.

Yours is a newer model and all that, but on the older cars if you left something made of metal in the small cubbyhole by the ashtray and controls for the heated seats, that would trigger the alarm. At least it has done on previous 850, V70 and 2x C70 of mine. See if there is something in and around the dash that could trigger the alarm.

You can get this sort of fault when the car's secondary alarm battery starts to fail.

Yes, alarm siren battery leaking on the circuit board.... It leads to other random faults as well like sunroof not functioning!

Well, you can just unplug it & put up with the alarm service message every time you start the car!
