Default 2010 s40 ventilation fan not working

Hi,
I've been looking through the forum for some top tips and found this but doesn't really resolve the issue

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=218553

Looking on ebay a 2nd hand s40 fan is approx £75. I've checked relevant fuses but after seeing how much of the inside of the car you have to take apart to replace the fan, I'd rather do that as a last resort.

Has anyone else replaced their ventilation/heater fan? what was it like to do? I imagine the fan + labour is going to be in the hundreds.

thanks.

It took me two days but that was done on my driveway. The only problem I came across was trying to put the mounting screws back on the fan.
