Default 00D1 SRS Service urgent

Hi all, I know that there are plenty of threads on this but I can't find a solution. I have had the display 'SRS Service urgent' for a while, along with the airbag warning light. I bought an Autel MD801 to clear the 00D1 code but the message remains and, although the airbag light is no longer on, the amber engine management light is now on (it wasn't before).
One forum member said that the codes must be cleared in the CEM before they are cleared in the SRS module. How is this done??
Any help gratefully received, MOT is just 2 weeks away! Thanks in advance

Fastest ways:
1) Find a BSR-PPC reader (it cleared mine)
2) Get to a Vida and pay the man.
3) Try other higher end code readers (I suppose)

When using BSR-PPC or VIDA, you just clear all the codes and it works: there is no option (or need) to clear them in a particular order. If the Autul unit is doing it's job but you've still got an amber triangle then there is still a fault of some description present. The amber triangle is just a generic indicator of a problem, rather than being an engine management warning.

From the manual:

This lamp lights up red or yellow depending on the severity of the fault that has been detected. Yellow light: Follow the instructions shown in the text window.
Red light: Stop the car as soon as possible in a suitable location and read the message shown in the text window.

I've been reading everything I can find online about cancelling the Volvo SRS message (not that there is much to find) and am wondering what exactly is the difference between the equipment that can clear it and the equipment that can't.
I've read that some other makes of vehicles are really eaisily done using basic equipment simply Set header, read and clear.

Is there anyone on here that can authoritativley say if the difference is hardware or software? Is it just a matter of getting on the right bus? A different clear command than the other units?

Default MOT fail?

I don't think I'll invest in another reader but I was wondering, as it is only an amber 'advisory' engine management light, will it definitely be an MOT fail? The digital display has stopped working so it isn't clear what the light is for. Will the MOT station have to read the code?
Thanks

Don't forget it's not an EML but a general indicator of a fault with the vehicle. An MOT tester is likely to err on the cautious side if the DIM doesn't show the actual fault. They won't read your codes as part of the test: they'll make it your problem to diagnose and rectify the fault.

I had similar a few years and the same Autel reader failed.
I met a member with Vida and it cleared.
I had no inclination to find out why the Autel didn't work on that particular fault (SIPS High Resistance) so the Autel was sold and replaced with Dice and Vida.
Significantly cheaper than the Autel and significantly better.

It means your DIM could possibly be starting to fail. It's a common problem with them at that sort of age, but if it is, there is a cheap fix available right here on this forum
