Default 01 s60 engine swap

My engine is gone and im going to swap it out. I have a 2.4 turbo motor and want to know if I can just buy a regular 2.4 motor and put the turbo off my other engine on there or if I have to buy a 2.4 with turbo motor. And also what all years are compatible with my 2001 s60 2.4t.

Get a turbo motor, the n/a's will have higher compression and that is probably the least of many issues!

Breakers will often sell the engine bare, ie without manifolds/turbo, alternator etc

What caused your motor to die? If something has disintegrated you need to makesure your turbo hasn't ingested anything and been damaged.

Make sure the engine is an exact match for you year and model. You may run into problems with bits and bobs not working, worse you find out after you fitted it. Spend more on a low mileage engine.

Ive done an engine change on my 2003 D5 so aware of the pit falls.

See a lot of good prices on eBay but they all say they fit my car and naturally aspired, I want the exact motor I had but they offer no details if it was off a turbo car or not. Could the naturally aspired be used with my turbo charger or is they 2 total different motors

Try asking Andrew @ Popular Mechanix in San Franscico, I called in with him a couple of weeks ago and he appeared to know quite a bit about the petrol engines you have in the US.

http://popularmechanix.com/

I was asking if he could get parts in SF for a European D5 as they don't import to the US.
