(OK, some rusty bits sorted, more await);

Although, apparantly sorted with twin Weber DCOEs, new brakes and poly bushes. Probably should have waited until the metal and paintwork was done, eh?

(The chrome gearknob and momo-style steering wheel are a good sign of an enthusiastic owner, so above "new" parts might have seen action already).

Could make a profitable scrapper (at half the price) if the tinworm is too advanced, not that I'd advocate such a heinous crime...
How sad, we see this quite frequently: people buy oldish motor cars as projects and spend a fortune on the shiny bits but find the important stuff (rust) too difficult. The motor car then stands under a tarpaulin for a decade until it is collected by the Romanian scrap guy, or is sold to the banger racer for £300.

Realistically this is a £500 motor car, and much of that will be in the £350 residual value for the carburettors.

The only saving grace with this one is that the chap/lady hasn't already bought the expensive wide alloy wheels, lowering springs and undercar lighting :-).

Alan :-(

Default Amazon/MX5

I have a vague recollection of seeing this one for sale previously (some time ago):

... a bizarre MX5 with some Amazon body panels :-)

I like it, they’ve managed the proportions really quite well!🤔

Filler, fibreglass or total inability to reseal windscreen glass, hard to say what's worse with the windscreen, but hey, at least they've stripped it for cutting out and doing properly.

Old car "maintenance" is rarely enough, at some point some restoration will be required which usually involves metal, paint and cloth-work, none of which is cheap and much of which is beyond most tinkerers' ability.

I have a lot of respect for nutters who build one-offs like the MX-5 Amazon, they've mastered the above or paid someone who has...

Some cars do keep coming up:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185521008936

Does this mean there's a complete k-jet engine and AW70 going spare too?

Do you recall the previous asking price and whether it "sold" or was just removed ?

It's member Othen's car, with a very well documented restoration thread in this very forum. Recent (entirely gratuitous) top end overhaul took it off the market for a while, but it's back for a while until Othen gets bored and soups the hell out of it....
