Default Success...finally.. but a question

Today after nearly 7 years I finally managed to remove the tech dipstick from my V70 D5. However it has left me with a question.
When I looked at the dipstick, oil only covered the bottom ball bit - not what I expected to see, but in line what I have discovered on this forum. However, others appear to say the oil should be upto the green stripe on the attached image with "full" being the red stripe.

The electronic dash gauge shows half full. I have never used DICE to reset the level, but as Volvo and I are the only ones to change the oil and each have emptied the oil and then refilled with 5.7 litres, I think the electronics should be accurate??.

But do I need to add more oil?? and if so how much/to which level???

Cheers
Bob

1/: Are you sure the dipstick was fully seated and car level and engine stopped for about 5 minutes to allow correct level indication, if so your oil level is a bit low.

2/: I am not familiar with your car but are you running the engine to take the electronic level reading, the new Spa cars require the engine running, your is the older non spa model so I do not know if it works the same, if it is the same and you can read it with engine stopped it will indicate a false higher level to the dipstick. (Spa models no longer have a dipstick)
If electronic level is showing half way with engine running it should be ok.

3/: https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=112, the correct forum for your model. For any other help you might need were there will be more folk knowledgeable on your vehicle.

What does the electronic level read with engine running.
