Project Carplay Volvo XC70 2008 Aftermarket
Hi!
I created this account so that I could post this little project I did here in Brazil! I've searched for hours for a nice carplay aftermarket for a Volvo XC70, but didn't like the ones I saw, so I went to my local shop (Puff Audio Design) and did a little project here in Brazil, and I'm really happy with the result! I've finally finished my Carplay adaptation with a Pioneeer screen and the original part on the center console of a 2008 XC70! I'm really happy with the result! Also, the system now works with Surround, and it sounds amazing! Edit: more pics, video and short how to: I've had a pro (Puff Audio Design) at my city do it, I've spent about 4.000 BRL, or about 700 USD for everything, including a Rearview Camera, and tinted front windows to reduce the heat of he piece. But basically I bought this piece used on EBAY ( Dynaudio Cover Dashboard Volvo V70 XC70 30722623 / 30676229 ) He then cut the rubber part and installed a Pioneer screen with CarPlay. The rear part he made of fiberglass and than wrapped in alcantara leather. He plugged the audio system on the AUX, so the volume works on the steering wheel, but I can't skip tracks (he gave me a solution of using another system, ill probably do next month) So when I reverse, the parking sensors work perfectly with sound and everything, lowering the volume of the radio... The screen is a pioneer Dmhz 5280 I'll update some more photos Last edited by rpolicastro; Oct 29th, 2021 at 19:42. |

That's a very neat solution. Well done. Thanks for posting it here.
Is the head unit you've used a double-DIN fitment? If so, did your installer separate the screen from the main 'box'? If so, where has the box been installed? Maybe all the components were removed and mounted individually? Interested in knowing more about what you've done.

I am not sure it would give me much more functionality than my current setup of a smartphone plus a tablet for real-time mapping on longer journeys. So I think I will stick with what I've got.
