Swedish Steeds compete in Great Race
The GreatRace.com for vintage automobiles, starting on the east coast, with the 9 Stage route being across much of the USA, including on the historic Route 66, was held recently, finishing in Fargo, North Dakota.
130 beautifully prepared cars of may different manufacturers, some of whom don't exist anymore, from 1920s to 1970s completed, including six teams in Swedish steel. All of the teams running Swedish Steel finishing. Team 47 in a '73 1800ES did need an emergency ignition service, where I was able to assist, but then completed the remaining stages, including the long trip home from ND to Kentucky. I have put together a bit of a Swedensteel-centric summary in case anyone is interested. https://www.sw-em.com/Vintage_Swedis..._Race_2022.htm Cheers from Connecticut, Stop after Stage1 |

I know a couple of guys that were running The Great Race and I had seen a grill shot of the PV 544, but nothing else.
Thank's for posting the photos. Kobus Reinke writes articles for Bring A Trailer.com. He was running a Porsche, probably a grey 236. Another guy I know was Jim Sweeney, but I'm not sure what he was driving. I bet Kobus may have an article on BAT at some point. |

Thanks Ron, for posting those pictures and your commentary... looks like it was a hoot.
Respectable showing for Swedish steel! Cheers from Ohio! Chris |
