Default Shocks absorbers

Hi I just find out one of my shocks absorbers is bend like banana and need some new ones .
Can anybody tell me which ones I need because is few different in the market , do I need gas shocks or oil one ?
I have Volvo S80 d5 Executive 2004.
Anybody can help.

It depends on your budget really. Bilstein and Sachs are highest quality (and price) over £100 each but I fitted Meyle at £88 for the pair. Avoid Anschler.
The whole strut assembly is made up of several parts and on occasion you need more than just the shock absorber.
You may also need a spring seat, rubber washer, bump stop, gaiter but you can't tell until it's off the car and disassembled

If they are the normal shocks and not those fancy ones, and you going to keep the car, I would put Bilsteins on without question. I have these on 3 of my 4 current cars. You need to shop around to get good prices.

I recommend buying all the bits you may need, top mounts, bearings etc. When I did mine I got the shocks stripped out only to discover I needed all the other bits I mentioned. A days job quickly turned into a week without the car as I waited for the new bits to turn up.

I have around £200 for shocks and yes will change other bits as well and do I need to change springs as well ???

Your springs should be OK, only change them when they break.

Buy a used one, i don't usually advocate doing one side, but as Volvo's don't actually handle properly anyway then a £30 used strut off ebay will probably suffice.

Put the money saved towards something else....
