i'm off to the Beach (which is about 50 Yards from me front Door !!!!) ...

i've lived here all my life & it STILL amazes me that People actually PAY to come here on Holiday.. I mean its nice anorl but to me its just "HOME" ...

& Living here I cannot honestly remember when I last saw the sea (coz its "there" all the time!!!! you just get used to seeing it (In fact I can hear it now sitting here typing this!!!)

Sad Isn't it ???

Off down to a small site in the Dordogne mid August for 10 nights. First time driving onto the Eurotunnel with a van on the back!

Crossing over to France late afternoon and then driving through the night with loads of kip stops on the way!

what 6 berth have you got moncman ?

had my van 10 years and just starting to camp again after a 3 year gap,
thinking of getting a 6 berth next year and am interested in any problems or good points on different models,

We've got a 2005 Lunar Zenith Six. It's about as long as you will find with a single axle (just under 8m) and has twin fixed bunks at the back. The layout was very popular with Swift group and Bailey all doing a varition on the theme. A move to triple bunks a couple of years ago frees up some space for a seperate shower rather than toilet wet room. This is good if you don't care for toilet blocks or fancy lots of stops at CLs. Fixed double beds are also popular if the kids are getting older as they might not always want to come and there is obviously no making up to do for the adults bed.

Personally I am more than happy with Lunar build quality and place it above many of the Swift brands which always seem to have bits falling off.

One last thing...we have a bike rack fixed to the rear which keeps the inside of the van clean. Caravan club advise against this as it can make the van tail happy but as we have such a weight differential between car and van (XC90 pulling around 1350kgs) I've never had an issue. If you think this might be for you the fixed rear bunks are a must as the rack bolts to the strong cross beams for the beds. A van with a rear window won't work as well as the back panel is too flexible.
