alarm central locking
:HI fellow volvo driver owners
i am a newbie on here as well as to owning a volvo and have some probs with my p reg v 40 yes i know its getting on a bit but it still goes firstly i cannot lock and set alarm with fob without the indicators flashing continually non stop i have to then turn off with fob and lock with the key secondly it has developed rough running almost instantly , I suspect fuel starvation and have replaced the in line filter but no difference the symptoms are low power , holding back , but no backfire , rough lumpy idle ,i have no warning lights up . i suspect this is not electrical control unit fault but maybe vacuum leak but i may be erring on the cheapest repair any ideas any one Last edited by birdwood; Sep 26th, 2008 at 21:11. The indicators flashing mean that in fact the alarm is going off straight away when you set it , you dont hear the siren because it is faulty . It is possible the faulty siren is setting it off ..
Have you changed the plugs ? maybe the leads or coils are playing up ..

thanks for the advice i thought this too that it was running on only three pots i have checked thru plugs and leads whilst idling by pulling each one off to check for changes to engine note which there was i concluded that the leads and plugs were ok but may be a problem at higher revs i will investigate the siren for faults

The rough running could be wrong spark plugs, (use genuine Volvo spark plugs) clogged air filter, vacuum leak, check all and any vacuum pipes, clogged/blocked injectors and or fuel filter, could also be faulty ignition coil/s. Also check and clean the throttle body and associated pipes and components.
Your alarm problem could be as above faulty siren or your alarm module itself could be faulty, do all the doors lock with the fob? do any of the interior lights stay on after locking the doors with the fob? |
