Default BLIS - What's happenning?

I wanted a V70 with BLIS. One dealer told me there was a two week delay on any car to be fitted with BLIS another said there were two problems:

1. The working of the system
2. The supply of parts.

I have had to order a V70 without BLIS and feel peeved.

Peter

Thought: Dear List admin, how about adding "BLIS" to your "Prefix" drop-down. I have this horrible suspicion you're going to need it ...

Looks a bit overcomplicated, but I've never tried using it so have no real first hand experience. Whats wrong with looking over your shoulder, anyway? LOL.

I have it on the new XC70 and although it's early days it seems to be functioning well. I get a few false signals when it must be picking up spurious signals but I haven't seen any indication yet of it NOT picking up blind spot vehicles.

I decided to get it because I've had a couple of instances of being blind-sided - and if anyone says they haven't then they haven't been driving long enough

Regardless, even if the system doesn't work (as a back-up to looking over your shoulder) then I feel I haven't lost anything except a few hundred squids (upgrade price on the SE Lux of £450, less a bit of discount).

Thank you John R,

I have now found that someone in the US has also tried to get BLIS and been refused.

Clearly something has happenned and Volvo is keeping very quiet until the can establish a Position on whatever it is.

Since yours presumably works I somehow feel either a patent has been infringed or a court case is pending.

I ordered my car in June for Sept. delivery. Wonder if Volvo have changed their position since then?

Hi,

Is this system not similar to the one beemer are installing on their high-end cars.??
Or is it Mercedies and their new S500??

Saw something about this sort of system recently...

Looks like it may be getting more main-stream now - found this (Googled for adaptive +xenon) http://www.investegate.co.uk/Article...913080000NE867

After seeing mention of Citroen it seems to ring a bell - didn't they put turning headlamps on the DS(?) series many years ago - you know, the old classic big Citroen?
