Default Should I buy ???

Hiya,

I've been looking at buying an S60 for a while now, and an opportunity has arisen for me to do so...

Basically, the car is an 03 (52 place) S60 D5 SE, From what i can tell it's in excellent condition, and is an ex LEX lease car (so has FSH).
The only down side is that it has 122000 miles on it.. Now i've heard rumours that the D5 is good for a lot more than that..

Is there anything i should be wary of ?

It's for £5k by the way..

Your advice and expertise would be very gratefully recieved !

Cheers

Simon

Check the belt has been changed ( @ 96k I think) , check service history ( ex lease usually = not really cared for that much) for 'intervals' between service's & if poss, check with servicing dealer/s for oil type used.
Have a look in through the oil filler cap for any signs of sludge etc on the cam( although guess this car has seen heavy motorway miles so should be fine) & if its an auto check the ATF is red or smelling burnt etc........... + usuall stuff with shocks, gaiters, steering assy, weeping head gasket etc etc............
Have recently bought one myself ( petrol though) & am very happy with it
Good luck
Dave

HI,

Volvos usually are goot to the quarter million mark and beyond.
As above, but if you are not so mechanically minded, maybe an RAC vehickle check and make sure you can get the company records for the serviceing.
Not necessarily the receipts (as they claim they are filed for vat and other excuses) but the service sheet - seperat sheet with details of work carried out.

Then you'll know if it has been serviced correctly etc...

Des. . .

£5k is a good price for a 122k miler. I've seen D5's with over 200k on the clock so I don't doubt they can last if well cared for.

If its an SE it'll have all the toys too - which is nice

If all the toys work, it drives smoothly with no warning lights and no smoke I'd say go for it. There isn't really much that goes wrong with the D5's aside from the injector issue but if yours is an 03 model it shouldn't be affected (or would have had the injectors replaced under warranty).
