Default Tesco 99 Octane fuel

I have a 2.5 S60 with a RICA upgrade. They advise OPTIMAX and then any named 97/98 RON fuel. They also advise to avoid supermarket fuels.
With the arrival of Tescos 99 octane I am wondering if anyone has tried this or has any advice?

Many people have excellent results with the 99 octane fuel - I'd say give it a go and see if you notice any difference over V-Power/Optimax - most people say they notice no difference and of course its miles cheaper!

I tried a tank of Tesco 99ron in my 2.0t as opposed to normal branded unleaded that I normally use as it was the same price. I noticed a drop in fuel consumption from around 28mpg to 25mpg. The car did feel a little perkier though but it could be that "placebo" effect.

Cool

I use Tesco 99 in my R all the time. I tryed it once and found the car runs much better. As imac said, give it a go.

Default Tesco 99 Octane

I use Tesco 99 Octane in my T4 and so far have had no problems, it certainly seems more responsive than on normal unleaded, haven't noticed any difference in MPG.

Remember reading in a Volvo brochure for a V70 (2001 or 2002 MY from memory), that although the car can use 'normal' 95 octane unleaded ('cos the government legislation says it must); the small print in the brochure stated that better performance AND economy is achieved from 98 octane unleaded.
Obviously Volvo don't design engines to meet all government legislation, but just ensure the engine management system can tolerate this 'lower powered fuel'.
