Hi All,
This is my first post so expect some wrong terminology.
I’ve and X reg S60 2.4 T
I’ve been reading a few threads about problems with Throttle Bodies, and most seem to happen to people when they are driving and ending up with reduced performance.
My problem is that the car doesn’t want to start, the car makes all the right sounds and maybe after 20 seconds and the dash board going nuts it will reluctantly start. I’ve been to the dealer and had it replaced once at 42K but the problem has come back after only 7k they are saying it’s a software problem and that there is new software out soon which will solve the problem.
Has any one else had similar problems starting or know if what the dealer is saying is just a fob off as the replacement is still under its warranty.

Hi and welcome.

Silly question first, has it got plenty of fuel in?

As I've just said in another thread, my other car which is a Honda takes some starting if it is low on fuel.

Working in IT support I know there isn't such a thing as a silly question.
There is plenty of fuel.
It it's starting from cold or just done a 80 mile trip makes no difference.

Well first of all you need to establish if it is a eletrical or mechnical fault?

I am thinking it could be eletrics with all of your lights on the dash playing up.

Where to start is the question.

Have a look here, might be worth a look.

Edit: Just found this, might be something?

Thanks for that link, it does sound very much like the problem that I have but, most of my journeys are over 30 miles and along dual carriage ways so the engine is nicely warm. But I will give it a try Thanks again.

After a little spilt oil I've changed mine to Mobil 1 and gave it a good run in, a trip to London and back (about 200 miles all in). I was feeling optimistic Saturday morning with the sun shinning and yes it started perfectly, I dove about 30 miles did the normal mundane Tesco shopping hopped back in and it was problem was back, I was sitting there with the engine trying to start and my heart sank, what made it worse was a rather nice blonde sat in her car with the window down looking and laughing. It did eventually start with the normal splutter and engine warning light. I popped in to see my local stealer and they were very welcoming and helpful and offered to check out the error code which came back with fly wheel sensor, they’ve given it a good clean and so far it’s started perfectly. This is the first time that this error has been reported so I’m thinking that it may have been caused by the problem with the Throttle Management. I have also been told that the new software I’m waiting for will be in realise 6, they have just realised 5.
