Default Door Speaker Replacement

I want to replace a rear door speaker in my V70. I know how to remove the door card thaks to this forum. But other than drilling out the rivits is there a clever method for removing a speaker and then replacing it?

Your help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I assume that the speaker is rivited to the door card? As with the 700/900's..

On that basis, no, not much you can do as the rivit will tear the hole in the card bigger (or worse).. If you are using a different speaker, then you will likely be attaching back with a clip and self tapper?
In which case making the hole a little bigger is not going to make much of a difference. But ease out the speaker carefully to minimise damage.

The speaker is attached to the door. I originally asumed theat it was attached to the door card and was quite surprised.

Ahhh....

In that case drill out the rivets, but carefully.
Use a stubby short self-cutter to attach the new speaker.
Or use a nut/bolt - but tighten and maybe also use a locking compound to stop the nut working loose..
