Default Support battery needs servicing

My V90 diesel is just 4 years old with 20,000 miles and I just had a message saying the support battery requires servicing. Can anyone tell me that this means and if required how much will a new battery cost to buy and fit?

Before you spend any money I would try putting the car on a battery charger overnight and see if this helps. Do use the correct charging points under the bonnet.

Auxiliary battery failing, basically a motor bike battery, around £60.

As Mad Malc has said, just charge the batteries via under bonnet terminals. Use a AGM charger as both batteries are AGM.

Thanks everyone. I have an AGM mode on my CTEK charger - it says to use with batteries such as Optima and Odyssey?

I did mine for the same error.

But it does seem that the two batteries talk to each other so I did wonder if a charge cycle would get the BMS to sync.

I got the proper Volvo battery because the cover needs to lock onto the top face to secure it properly.

TMS Group offered me this link...

Just happened to my 2019 v60 D4 R-Design with just 30,000 on the clock. The same battery appears to be used by the parking sensors, so watch out for when you cannot hear them and don't expect this!

£150 (£90 for the part) to replace the Aux Battery at the dealership who round this neck of the woods are pretty fair and trustworthy. Retail car parts places (you know who) might be cheaper but had a bad experience with them last time.

I managed to replace the battery on my daughter's '08 Micra - that is easy, more modern cars though look a lot more hassle.

Our V60 (pre-SPA model, but hopefully the principle remains the same) has both normal and smaller aux battery.

Normal battery seems to be standard lead acid and aux battery is AGM.

Car is used quite a bit for short journeys. Battery warning comes up reasonably frequently, and I either charge it up or take the car for my commute for a few days. After this the warning goes away, and stop start works again. However the warning is now coming back up more quickly every time.

So at 6 years of mainly short journeys I think the battery is probably starting to get a bit weaker and I am wondering about changing it.

My question is how do I know which battery needs replacing, and if I change the main battery should I upgrade to AGM (the label on the battery compartment definitely says AGM is compatable)?

Any thoughts most appreciated.
