Another one
Having resurrected a 164 last year I've decided she needs some company. This 142S will be the next addition. I'm thinking a few mods to this one, lowered, bright paint (works rally orange?), Minilite or Compomotive alloys, GT instrument pack if i can find one!! nothing that couldn't be put back to standard, but hopefully a bit different.

What a splendid, nostalgic photo! I had thought of putting my 164s and 142S in a row surrounding my spares-use 164 for a photo-shoot, but not as atmospheric as yours as even the incomplete spares car is shiney!
It was only a few years ago when sights like yours were fairly common, but with the value of scrap steel currently being around £150 per ton, there are now lots of unscrupulous people touring around seeking out just such caches of - they think - unwanted old cars. If the owners are found (a big IF!) the offer of £50 for the removal of what the owner innocently considers scrap, is a super incentive to make their grounds look tidy again. If only we could switch back time...... I should have made enquiries about the abandoned 142 near Gainsborough when camping near there, not to scrap it but make it fit to live next to my current one. Good luck with this project - I should be getting an abandoned 164 soon, if only to ensure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. Paul |

Would it be wrong to wish you had enough space to save all of the abandoned cars you've seen, if only to keep them to pass on to someone who wanted to restore it.
Do you think we could register some kind of charity? |
