Unhappy Map Update

I have just received my new map DVDs for my 2012 V70 and the enclosed booklet tells me to enter my VIN at "www.volvocars.com/navi" but this site doesn't exist and I am redirected to "www.navigation.com" which seems only intent on selling me a new set of maps but then says it is out of stock! I had no problems with my last update a few months ago - any ideas please?

Mine arrived yesterday and when the site redirects you, you have to go to the bit at the bottom right about New Vehicle Mapcare and click on find out more there is a link to get the activation.
Having said that, it still didn't work for me.
I phoned up the toll free number and they said that there was a problem with the website and gave me the code over the phone and by email immediately.
Update has now started and will be complete in about 5.5 hours!

My discs turned up today and I had an issue with the website also, where it informed me that I was not eligible for an upgrade.

I went back on a couple of hours later at about 9pm and it went straight through and provided me with my activation code.

Sorted. Thanks wheelnut I did as you did via the New Vehicle Mapcare link and it worked for me! Best of luck with the 5.5hr update. Sat-nav maintenance really feels like stoneage technology in a space-age car - Volvo should stick to making cars. When my free updates expire I'm going to steal my old Tom Tom back from my wife!

Chipshop

If it works as the last one it will just pause when you stop, then pick up the next time you start the car. You won't be able to use the SatNav while it's happening though.

Good luck.

Well, got the update finished today. Pretty sure that the nav was available after the first 2 discs went through, but I didn't test it fully so can't be sure.

Have to say though, this update was so much easier than the one last year - the discs were all picked up straight away by the DVD reader, whereas last year it struggled to see them. I know a number of people complained of the same last year, so I guess that there was a manufacturing issue, but it's certainly not been an issue for me this year.

So far, not noticed any differences to the maps, but I dare say there'll be lots to be found over the coming weeks and months.

For any others who are confused/struggling, I have just received a reply from Mapcare who say:

"Thank you for your email to the Volvo MapCare? customer contact centre.

We would like to inform you that the link you have received is wrong. Please try with this one:

www.navigation/volvo/activate"

Another typo then....
