Tailgate / boot opening advice
We got the ‘tailgate open’ warning message over the weekend. Even though the boot was shut.
Then the boot wouldn’t lock with the rest of the central locking - could open it independently no matter which locking method we tried - remote, key, internal. Now the opposite - the boot is locked firm and won’t open. I’ve tried the fuses but most threads say it’s fuse 6 in the boot compartment but my manual says this is for the CD changer - I changed it anyway but no luck. I’ve found an online video which suggests it’s the connectors on the earth wire but I’ve just heard in the car a clicking noise when I try to unlock the boot - I assume that is the relay? Before I start dismantling the rear of the car looking for a wire can anyone advise that if I can hear the relay then it could be an issue with the lock itself? Or is there no way of telling? Any advice much appreciated |

I have recently had the same issue where the boot wouldn't open.
When you lock or unlock the car can you hear the tailgate lock at all? If you can hear it then its the mechanism inside thats knackered. If that is the case you have to remove the boot lid trim from the inside to get to the mechanism. You'll likely break the plastics which happened to me. |

Ah - no thé lock doesn’t make a noise at all - it’s just the faint clicking I could hear… assume I could only hear it as the panel was off.
I was hoping it would be the locking mechanism as I really don’t fancy playing with wires! |

No I don’t think it can actually! I got a bit confused when researching then understood there were a lot of fakes on the market.
The car is a 2006 V70 D5 |

Hi, the Launch are good readers and not all readers do bi-direction control,
with your car , you may have a broken wire were the tail gate hinges, Dave |
