Default C70 D3 cam belt change frequency

Apologies if this has been advised before.

I have a C70 D3 on a 62 plate. Has only covered 12600 miles
Always garaged and main dealer serviced regardless

My concern is it could be due a cam belt change later this year at 5 years old. Could someone please advise me when this is recommended please.

Many thanks

I'm not sure of the time interval for changes on these, but I think you are wise to be considering changing it despite the low mileage.
Low mileage is fine, but it is likely that this engine has seen more stop starts than average, and all of this, and age, takes its toll on the belt.
Others will no doubt advise you, but worth using genuine Volvo within-date stock, leaving the water pump well alone , but changing the tensioner and auxiliary belts.
Volvo parts are generally available at discount (code C3?) via. FRF Swansea.
Of course, you can delay it, but the trade off is the potential for failure, and consequences you don't want to think about.

Appreciate your advice re belt life. However there is no way on this earth I would source any parts outside the franchise, nor would I ever let Fred the Shed near it.
Thanks again

Thanks for your replies to date. However I am intrigued as to why the water pump should be left alone. Any proven reasons?

Incidentally my C70 only comes out for minimum of 20 mile trips and never used as a shopping car.

Advice offered so far much appreciated. Thanks again.

Nothing really intriguing about not changing Volvo water pumps, particularly at very low mileages. Might be worth browsing any posts on cambelt changes, and I think you will find that the over whelming consensus of opinion is to leave them as they are, if they are genuine Volvo and pass an inspection. However, if they are to be changed then replace only with another genuine Volvo one, not an aftermarket one.
Not sure about your reference to only using main dealer parts - which is always my (and many other's) preference - since this appears to be a bit out of context, in view of the opinion to indeed use main dealer parts, and the suggestion of trying Volvo dealer, FRF at Swansea for parts at discount (code C3)
Another poster has has suggested Gates belts which I think are very well respected, but if buying on price in preference to Volvo parts, then again it might well be worth comparing prices with Volvo parts at discount.
Of course, genuine Volvo belts do appear on EBay etc. but it may be worth asking how old these belts are before buying, since they may be aged stock, and you could end up buying a belt older than the one you are changing on an age basis!
It may be worth the OP contacting a couple of Volvo dealers and asking what is the recommended time interval change for these belts, and hopefully you will get similar answers. The correct decision can then be made.
