Default V40 Headlight headache. Some advice please...

The side lights on my lovely T reg V40 are working, and the main beam full on is working, but the headlights aren't.

I have changed the bulbs and changed the relay (as suggested) but they still aren't working.

It's a bit of a nightmare, and the goold old Volvo dealer wants £60! just to take a look. Blimey.

Can anyone advice on another approach or know of a good Volvo mechanic near Hitchin / Stevenage (Hertfordshire) that is preferably mobile.

I know it sounds silly but have you checked the fuse?

If the main beam stays on(latches not just flashes when the stalk os operated) when your headlight switch is selected to on then you know the switch and associated power are working to power the headlight relay. So your problem either has to be the relay or power supply to the headlights.

Have you checked the H4 connectors (the black plastic connector) that your bulb goes into as these have mild steel spade connectors that corrode and the wire attached to the spades can break, I replaced my H4's with new ones which come with brass crimp on spades, a far better conductor and improved light output.
