Got a v40 1997 2.0 starts ok then when running it hesitates and holds back and splutters between 1-2000 revs.when over 2000 no problems or when you put foot down it clears.ive changed plugs,ht leads, coils, injecter cleaner but still the same.also noticed on trip computer oil temp is always cold when running regardless for how long.can anyone please help?????

Having read this I would say your two problems are definitely related.
The car still sees the coolant, and therefore engine as cold, hence is always running on choke (over-fuelling). Your mpg must be pretty bad? |

Seems low to me. Mine runs at an average of 31mpg with 5 days of a 6 mile commute and then usually a decent run at weekends.
Motorway journeys I average 35-37mpg |

Was that even with the oil displaying cold? That's about right I would think.
Maybe others know if your brand of x40 has an oil temp sensor? |
