Ozpass, no offence but open the boot and flip up the load divider and you soon get the hang of using it. BTW, Read manual, (page 170 in my08 car) and it's all explained , as is the V60 video above, no need to spend any money.

From the pics in other thread, Oz's car doesn't have the load divider.

Oz- this is what it looks like:

Mine doesn't have a load divider (2011 D3 ES). If I only have one or two bags I put them behind one of the front seats. If I have a bigger shop to accommodate then I load them in the rear load area starting from one side at the back, with the lighter items first and then wedged up with stable heavier and bulkier items to keep everything in place. The tailgate then nips them up tight and as long as you don't brake hard it all stays fairly well in place.

If I didn't have my boot covered because of the dog, and didn't have a load divider either, I would have invested in one of these - http://volvopartspeople.com/product/...%20compartment (From an American site but will be available in the UK.)

I would either use it with the 4 floor load hooks as shown or with the 2 rear most floor load books and the 2 rear side mounting hooks to trap items against the back seat

We use 3 or 4 folding crates in the back of the estate, the shopping bags sit in the crates and do not slide around.

They easily fold flat and are relatively cheap compared to any car companies branded product.

See

Other suppliers are available

No offence taken, but no amount of videos or manuals can aid me sadly, as my car doesn't have the boot divider fitted. Instead of part of the floor flipping up as illustrated, the entire floor raises up on gas struts with lots of smaller compartments available to me but no straps for shopping.

Thanks all for the input, car's in for service today anyway so I'll ask the dealer what's available...

...then buy it cheaper online! ;-)

We're off to France soon for the Summer, and I always carry a couple of Draper crates in the boot of whatever I'm driving as shopping bags don't exist there. Probably adopt this as the best approach for the UK too.

That US cargo net seems a bit expensive. There are lots around if you look and most have elasticated straps with hooks. I used one from a Mk 1 Sorento that worked perfectly in the XC70.

Regarding not getting bags in France......which part of that country do you visit. We have some super bags that fold flat and each one has four loops just above the base that will hold the most important items of shopping; the wine.

Poitou-Charentes for us - our house is in the Deux-Sèvres (79). Our regular haunt (Super-U) sells the big "bag for life" type thingies, but as I struggle to remember what I ate for petit-dejeuner I've always reached the checkout with a ton of comestibles and a queue a mile long behind before I realise I left them at home. Beauty of the crates is that they're too heavy to heft car-to-house so they stay put!

Yes we found the same when we lived in France, Charente [16] just south of Deux Sevres, folding plastic crates are the way to go - just don't over fill them with wine bottles!!
