Hood Spray Nozzle Type?
Hi,
I just bought a replacement hood for my V40 as the aftermarket one that I stupidly chose to put on about 6 years ago is already starting to rust through. My first hood had the updated spray nozzles (the ones where the tubes are not visible) but the aftermarket hood came with the older spray nozzles (flat type with visible spray tubes). I've called up a wreckyard and they have a hood of the right colour in excellent condition (apparently) but it's a 2001 vintage. I'm seeing conflicting info out there on which year the spray nozzles got updated. I'm trying to figure out (and hoping) that the hood at the wreckers will have the holes that match up with the updated nozzles but I'm not sure. Anyone know what year they switched? IPD seems to suggests that only 1998 models had the older style but FCP Euro seems to suggest that these were phased out in 2002.

Either nozzle will fit your new hood, they are not too expensive to buy from the dealers.

Just so I know, do they just pull out upwards, swap the nozzle on the hose, then clip back in again?

Yes - look underneath and you can see two angled-outwards plastic arms; just squeeze them and push the nozzle up and out of the bonnet. Swap hose and replace from top.

If I look underneath I just see a great black wad of sound insulation
I assume it can be removed though, just a few push-pins My n/s nozzle lifts easily - I assume it's come loose - but it's been OK for a while so maybe the plastic tags just needed "a good shove" to lock in position

Ah, yes, might need to move the insulation first...good point.
I replaced my nozzles a year or so back to improve the spray and I recall the n/s one needed quite a push to get it to click into place. David

If I can do it
I've changed my nozzles (thanks Alex). If I can do it, anyone can. The hard part was squeezing and popping the old nozzle out. The rest was easy.
