Default V60 SE D4 Nav Ordered :-)

Placed an order today, with Drive The Deal. Not much in way of options, just Flamenco Red metallic, and PCC keyless entry.

Tried 2 local garages, and neither could get within £1000 of the DTD price. Guys in Glasgow insisted that as they already had their quarter targets hit, they were giving me all their profit, and that in order to sell for £1,000 less they'd need to sell at a loss.

At the moment I don't know which garage I'm dealing with - they will contact me in 3 working days - but it's Midlands based.

As I want the 0% finance I have to go in person to sign the paperwork ( they do offer to deliver the car if it's a cash sale ), so that will be a nice first drive - back home back to Edinburgh.

12 to 14 weeks, so will be January - even if it comes early will wait and get it registered in 2015 ( although obviously still a 64 plate ).

Now starts all the reading of manuals and forums, and no doubt a few easily answered questions on here.

First one - who's replaced the can of gunk with a space saver spare. Is it around £250, think I remember reading that somewhere. Do you lose some of the boot space, ie does it stick up above the height of the standard floor - if so, by how much roughly ?

Will read up on winter tyres ( and possibly spare set of alloys so I can change over myself ).

Default Boot space

The spare saver tyre does not take any boot space up. I had my V60 done by the supplying dealer (Marc Tilling at Bells, Northampton, on it's first free service.) Cost roughly as you have stated.

I, too, do not fancy relying on a squirter!

Congrats, i've also just ordered a V60 SE D4 Nav as well though with a few option packs from a local dealer (they got within about £500 of the DtD price I had and threw in a couple of accessories I wanted so figured that difference was worth getting it from somewhere practically round the corner), I've been given an initial estimated delivery date of beginning of December though.

One of the options I've gone for is a space saver spare and I've been told the floor level will stay the same.
I'm not sure whether to take that with a pinch of salt though because with a Business edition you can't order both the grocery bag holder and spare wheel together as they supposedly don't fit so it's one or the other, yet the SE includes the grocery bag holder as standard and apparently can have a spare wheel as well which fits fine - I can't figure that discrepancy out.

Just taken delivery of a v60 BE and one of the things the BE didn't have that the SE did was the grocery holder, but what you do get is a hidden storage area below the boot. This gets removed if you take a tyre.

I'll just rely on RAC if I have any issues!

The thing with long lead times, the dealer I got mine from has cars permanently on order, so the spec just gets changed when a customer orders.

This brought my lead time down.

Some dealers obvs don't have the demand others do and have to start the order process from scratch.

I think the space saver is £150. I got my car through DTD as the other places I tried couldn't get near their price. If it's the same dealer I had you will be collecting your car from Coventry. Good luck and enjoy.

If you're thinking of getting a space save tyre then do it when you order. If you buy as an after market they are more expensive.

I have an XC60 and investigated the prices for an after market and they were £450 so got mine for £150 with the order!

£150 seems like a bargain in comparison and might well be 'subsidised' by Volvo.

Of course the after market price might be less for a V60.............

Excellent, thanks Tem for clearing up prices - £100 for wheel/tyre, and £150 for storage tray thing.

Pretty sure this is dealer fit, not factory fit, so will wait and decide whether to order from supplier dealer ( thanks AngloScot for heads up on Coventry ) or just get local at a later date. Chances of a blowout on the way back home from pickup.............;-)

Is there Breakdown/Rescue included with new Volvos ?

A number of use just bought the wheel and some the tools as well and then cut a hole in the lower tray. But if you can get the whole lot for around £150, then go for it.
There is a comprehensive post on the subject and I will try and find it.
