If it's the car in your signature you're looking to part exchange, then it's unlikely the dealer will be retailing it themselves given the age, they'll sell it on in trade. Given their offer, there's likely to be little to no margin from them on the sale of your trade in at the price they're offering.

If you want more, sell privately.

As per this. Your car will go off into auction. Transport fees to be paid. Auction fees. And it will go for bottom dollar at auction I’m afraid.

If the part ex they are offering is higher than what it’s worth at auction plus fees, then you’re prob paying over the odds for the car and the part ex is being off set against it.

I know what you mean that you expect more, but it’s pretty competitive out there right now so they won’t be looking to lose money on a part ex.

I agree that it is disappointing that the dealers seem to be offering low trade in values, and from my limited experience found that I have been offered similar values to WBAC on trade ins. (once the WBAC inspection is complete)

There's two ways to look at that I suppose.
As you feel and I have as well, that WBAC has a reputation for offering a rock bottom price, and you should expect better from a trade in valuation, but the dealers know that WBAC is people's alternate source of trade in, and so competes with that.

The other view is that, that is the value of the car, which is why you have two organisations making similar offers, and therefore the dealer is making a fair offer, and you are free to try to better it elsewhere.

As others have said, if the total deal works out, it shouldn't really make a difference to you. Arguably, if the money has come off the top end, and you can make money on it, selling it privately, the low trade in value, is to your advantage.

It's just not worth changing it at the minute for the amount of extra cash I'd have to put into a deal to get a similar spec'd car

You can ascribe whatever value you choose to your car. It's not the same as being able to achieve that value, as both dealer and WBAC are illustrating.

£6950 offered from Cazoo who will stand on their price as long as it is as described.

£6900 from Cinch who also get good reviews

Still not worth me changing but food for thought in the future

ask local car places, i had issues with a clean/low milage insignia as a WBAC type place offered just shy of 50% trade in value but visited a local small company and they offered the full TIV pretty much on the spot (didnt expect they would offer much higher), money in bank quick and they had it for sale the next day for £2.5k higher. However it was on the forecourt for a few months and only sold after a couple of price reductions.

Thanks. As I've said I used to work in the motortrade so still have a few traders as contacts.

It's always a lot easier to part ex where you're buying from especially as due to work commitments I need a quick swap over without the hassle of traveling from one place to the next etc

Last car I put through wbac. I watched go for sale on the national auction they put it through on a trader’s account.

And after auction costs and transport costs, they made a loss!

Bwahahaha...

That unconfirmed WBAC is exactly that, unconfirmed. That’s just a figure plucked out of the air that sounds great, then they’ll knock you down to probably much lower than the dealer is offering.

Try another dealership, you might get more. Don’t just go to one garage & expect a great trade in price. Go to a few, you might be surprised. The same applies to buying a car... shop around. I know it may not be easy with other commitments, but if you want the best deals, you have to do this.
