Wing shaped boot handle
I'm thinking about buying an early wing shaped boot handle to replace the usual rectangular handle. Has anyone done this conversion and will I need to drill holes or cut into the boot lid? Are there any parts I need to get such as link rods?
Thanks |

I did it, don't remember having to make any new holes, no new parts etc other than a gasket. The lights were a bit of a pain, not sure you can get the bulb holders anymore iirc. I made something that worked.

Wing shaped boot handle
hi Amazon 69
Did you need to change the boot lock, by this I mean the black block shaped metal handle with the lock in it. I assumed that it would be a case of taking the old chrome handle off and fitting the winged oned instead - plus sorting out the lights Many thanks for your help, Derek Last edited by Derek Russell; Apr 15th, 2021 at 22:27. I seem to remember that the original lock barrel and key worked with the older set up. You do need to get the latch/handle as well which makes up the lower part of the circle of the Volvo symbol.

You would need to do quite a bit of work to do the change. Painted lid late (top) bare metal lid early (lower).

It's easily done but you do end up with two of the original mounting holes slightly visible when you look from underneath. These can be welded up first to make it not noticeable.

My dad has a bunch of early good solid awesome condition Bootlids I’m sure he would sell you one maybe a better option is buy a bootlid already to bolt on think they all have the latches on aswell in used condition not concours the wing shaped handles but they come with the bootlids
