Default Self levelling suspension weeping

I have 2012 xc60 d5 awd and have been told I have self levelling suspension with the rear left side weeping.
Cost appears to be £470 for the suspension alone not fitted.
Is it essential to replace both at same time bringing cost upto £1000.
Regarding the price it’s from a main dealer. Any idea if there’s an after market version. My son can fit it so no need to worry about labour.
Thanks in advance.

It will be on its way out. It's a nivomat shocker. An MOT failure. Just bought one. See my very recent thread about five lines down from this one. Easy to change. But expensive new. I believe that not all xc60's have self leveling nivomats. These where fitted when a factory fitted towbar was installed.
Sachs/ Volvo part number 89 4104 000 379
or 31302604, same part. Have a good look around. I only changed the leaking shocker and all seems fine.
At the moment I cannot see any on ebay. there are some second hand xc90 ones BUT they ain't the same as what's on an xc60.
I am told you can buy a conversion kit from Volvo that includes 2 new nivomat shockers and 2 new softer springs for around £500!!
Also you can buy another kit, which includes a stronger Pair of rear springs and a more standard Volvo shock that just fine. The kit is around £180 on eBay. Depends on your towing needs etc.check it out on google. Regards
