Are you certain there's enough fuel in it? I had this happen to me twice before i realised the sender in the tank had gone faulty. Gauge was showing just under quarter tank but was actually running out of fuel! Plugged a code reader in and it showed code for fuel pressure but this was false because there was no fuel in car. I got some fuel in, bled the system and cleared the code and it was fine after!

There's defiantly fuel in the tank, around 25litres. It ran fine n just cut out. No fault on dash. Only fault on diagnostic is pressure control valve- signal too low.

I had a signal too low and it was a broken wire to the fuel pressure sensor/pressure control valve

Replaced high pressure pump for injectors and problem solved. Got quoted £700 for pump + fitting. Got it for £95 +£30 fitted. Sourced part from Huddersfield Volvo breakers. Would recommend them to everyone.

That's a happy ending then. Most unusual for the high pressure pump to fail - hence they are so cheap second hand.
Just to be clear - there is no pump in the tank on the 4 cylinder 2.0D - the only pump is the HP pump. The plus side of that is nice and simple and reliable design. The downside is any sort of leak or running our of fuel usually means a call to the AA to get the system bled...

Hi newbie here, I stumbled across this post after a similar issue. I am confused now though as I have a V50 2.0D 58 Plate (2009 I think) Volvo say the car has an in tank pump and this thread would suggest otherwise!
AA man beat the hell out the tank when I broke down to try and resurrect the pump! Was told no voltage to the pump until the relay was replaced. Volvo state its a fairly common issue and the loom also burns out. Can you are anyone shed any light please? Reg AG58OBF Thank You |
