960 Air Con
I have a '96 3lt 960. The air con works but only just. During the summer its effect was bearly noticable. A recent service by Volvo said that the air con needed serviced as it is not fully effective. Anyway I have an EZ gauge (from cool products) I connected it to the low presure side to messure the pressure to find out if it needs re-gassed. At first the pressure is about 27psi, just in the OK side of the gauge, but it then climbs to about 50psi (this indicates ALERT on the EZ gauge) there is then a click from the pump/compressor and the pressure rapidly drops to 27 again followed by the build up back to 50 and so it continues in this cycle.
As you can see I do not know a great deal about air con, my past experience has been with Fiat and it cost me more than it was worth every year for a recharge. I am reluctant to pay volvo for a re-gas if there is another fault that is going to cost lots more.
Are my messurements with the gauge typical? Does it suggest low gas or another fault? Any help would be much appreciated.
