Cambelt Change Intervals
I've been looking at a really nice S60 D5 [185] SE Sport. It is 5 years old with FVSH and 102k on the clock.
Searching on the Internet, I found a Volvo document that said the cambelt, auxiliary belt, pulleys and tensioners should be changed at 10yrs / 96k. The dealer selling the car reckons the service book says 6yrs / 108k. Can anyone advise what it should be? Thanks |

Update. I got some quotes.
108k service + belt(s) changed. Volvo main dealer - £600 Volvo specialist (1) - £640 Volvo specialist (2) - £800 Ouch. I'll find one that's had the belt done. |

My Volvo S60 2.0T going in for cambelt change (volvo kit) at Birmingham Dealer for £235. I think this is a very reasonable price from a dealer and you get the assurance (me thinks) that the work has been done to Volvo standards.

belt change?
had my d5 xc70(2007)serviced by main dealer at 80k,i asked if belt and tensioner needed replacing, they said it was 10 years or 108k whichever came first.i also saw a thread ref recalls on some d5,s where the tensioner was faulty causing the belt to come off and some serious damage to engines resulted and that dealers would recall those that could be affected.anyone had this done?.
cheers sandy |

Hi, got S60 back from dealers(Birmingham) after cambelt (Volvo camb kit) fitted, cost £234. Asked service to show me the old belt and was very surprised as it looked in very (very, very good) condition. Vehicle history: 2.0T petrol, 2003 model, 65,500miles on clock. Had belt changed as car was now 9 years old even though low milage. Service told me it's very rare they snap, so not sure if I could have risked waiting another 30K miles before changing. Old belt made in Germany, hope new is of same quality. Overall good servive, price and got car back vacumed and washed very well.

Every six years or 60k miles, irrespective of what Volvo say. Not worth taking the risk. Just had mine done at five years and 68k, also auxilliary drive belt, tensioner on aux belt was badly worn, could have gone at any time.

Mine was on the original until 127,000 when I bought it (dealer changed cam belt, tensioner and aux belt & tensioner and bits before I collected it) but I was lucky, do NOT leave it that long!
