Default Injector recoding

Thinking of fitting my 163 D5 with 185 injectors as well as a few other mods before a custom tune. Would I need to recode the injectors or can this be done by the tuner?

Will do, Dave. I’ve ordered injectors, fuel rail and high pressure pump from a 185. Won’t get around to fitting it all for a while as I think I need to prepare for the inevitable clutch and DMF woes from my current set up. So I’ll tackle that first before chasing more power.

Great, i have also seen that the 185 in tank feed pump runs all of the time in the 185, so you will have to rewire the pump, as the 163 does not run all of the time, it will be good to see how you get on with the car,
Thanks Dave

Hi again , now that you have done another remap, what is you boost running at,
as my 2002 S60D5 only had a 2.5 bar MAP sensor fitted so with the remap it was maxing out the map sensor so the was no over boost protection ,
so i have now changed/ re-scaled the MAP Sensor boost Table in the ECM to read a 4bar Map sensor, and the MAX boost is a lot more stable now as it is not at the top of the 2.5 bar sensor,
Dave

That’s very interesting, Dave. Never thought about that but it makes sense! And I have no idea what boost I’m running! It was a local company who did the custom tune and he said he’d ‘tricked’ the standard injectors into kicking out more fuel. Which I do think it needed as it seemed to be running a little lean after the 3” turboback install as I wasn’t getting smoke on full throttle as I did with the standard exhaust. Now I get black smoke when I give it the beans.

I do think it needs taking to someone experienced with the D5 such as Shemtek. Going to do some fuel mods later in the year and considering an updated hybrid to go with it. I’ll also look into this MAP sensor business! 185 clutch is on the list too. Then I’ll hopefully get Shem to work his magic!

Thanks

I wonder how you go about that? Re-wire how so? I’m sure there are others who have worked it out! Time will tell! Won’t be for a while but when I do get round to it I’ll let you know. R bumper swapping it first haha
