Default Xc90 t8 tailgate not opening automatically

Hi

Hope you are all well.
I have an issue with my tailgate. This morning I pressed the open button on the boot only for it to open about 5 Inches and shut again. There was a long beep from the car as well.

I pressed it again and it opened about 5 inches and stopped. I used my hand to open fully.
When I press the shut button it moves a few centimetres very slowly and stops.

I have looked around the Internet and found a few solutions. One being pressing and holding the boot shut button when it was fully open. It was meant to beep at me when I did this but unfortunately nothing happened. The other was a faulty strutt.

Do you guys have any other suggestions or able to confirm the strut diagnosis
Thanks

David
