I got a quote from the garage I use today, £150 for rear brake pads with fitting on my xc40.

In advance of going to Volvo for service.

Update. Having new rear pads fitted previously and advised there was ‘plenty of life in the fronts’ by my trusty local independent, prior to booking in Riverside Volvo Leeds. - Third year service (service plan) and MOT

Only to be informed by Riverside the car WOULD fail its MOT due to front brake pads wear. The quote was £303 front pads, Inc fitting to replace.

I politely declined with the knowledge 1. Already had the courtesy check previously, 2. No brake warning indicator. 3. A couple weeks spare before MOT was due date.

I returned to my local indie garage yesterday, MOT past with no advisories of front brake pads.

In addition, no complimentry continuation to the connected services app.

Ray Chapman Motors in Huddersfield are very good... I've had no luck with Riverside Wakefield either.

I don't think you get a brake lining warning on the SPA cars. I certainly have not seen any wires from the pads.

Regardless. From been informed of an instant MOT failure to no advisories. The point I am making is, the dealership IMO were scaremongering for the benefit of upselling.

Sure. I was just pointing out that you won't get a low pad level warning so don't run round with low pads assuming the car will warn you.
