When it was said that CarPlay would not be introduced in the AAOS cars quite a few folk said it wouldn’t happen - but it did. Sure it took quite a while before it happened but it did eventually take place. I agree that the pandemic held things up and there may be some changes to come. Sure some things that maybe would have come won’t but I reckon given the life cycle there’s a chance that they will. There are two spare buttons - one for the AAC and one for the Drive modes would be ideal. After that AAC that changes with the traffic signs would be good too. Whether that comes or not on today’s car who knows - it’s is definitely possible on the current vehicle and is going to be mandatory soon anyway.

The alternative would have been to hold up production.

Fact is this is a new generation of infotainment system the release of which has coincided with some fairly rocky world events. I expect they have been concentrating on the core systems making sure they are robust, and now that what we have seems fairly solid, we just have to be patient while they release additional features. This is the beginning of a product cycle so I doubt they will be scaling it back anytime soon - wouldn't make commercial sense.

With regard to Journal - Rybrooks said it is due this month - we'll see.......
Don't reckon it's that at all, the software team are no doubt all focussed on the hot new stuff for the EX90 with Nvidia chips etc. and AAOS on the SPA is probably serviced by a skeleton crew, that can be the only reason for being this slow, spread thin over supporting a few different OSs.

Every other car manufacturer has managed to do a good job on software in the same time frame, Renault launched their google infotainment last year too, it has everything Android auto, car play, all safety features work, fancy gui etc. but then they got LG to do it for them I suppose, a company accustomed to doing software and interfaces.

This is exactly what I was told when picking my T6 up and discussing the state of AAOS with the sales manager at Rybrook Preston. Whatever, having come from a Sensus V90 D4 I'm totally happy with the T6 and AAOS. One big plus for me is being able to play the radio paradise app - RP was removed from tune-in for licensing reasons.

Pretty happy with my car, they could do better with the software, simple as that, I test drove a sensus vehicle as part of my buying decision and was pretty happy with what it offered, I did not expect reduced functionality on a newer system, did anybody expect a retrograde step?

It's not bad enough to reject the vehicle but the fact I had considered it suggests that releasing half baked software is a big miss step, especially when the fixes should be fundamentally simple, an afternoon of someones time for some of these things surely.

Note, I know it's is not that simple, I've done a fair bit of automotive in my time and know the DFMEA hurdles you have to jump over but still...

I'm more confused than ever now. So, if I have full Pilot Assist (adaptive and lane keeping) set to 'on' on the centre screen, can I then toggle it on and off with the steering wheel controls?

Well, apparently this you can do. But you cannot easily switch to ACC or speed limiter using the buttons on the steering wheel.

If I understand your question correctly, and going by your signature we are talking about the Sensus system, then yes you can control Pilot Assist from the steering wheel controls. If Pilot Assist is 'active' press the centre button and this puts it into standby mode until you press the top resume button which will carry on with the last stored speed, or press the centre button again to set a new speed. In reality all the modes, Speed Limiter, ACC and Pilot Assist are in standby mode until you press the centre button to activate whichever mode you have chosen.

Lane Keeping Aid is a stand alone system with it's own tile in the centre screen. If this is selected then even without Pilot Assist being active you will get a warning if the vehicle strays over the centre line. This is not affected by the steering wheel controls and can only be disabled in the centre screen.

You turn Pilot assist on and off with steering controls, you just can't switch between the speedlimiter function and Pilot assist/ACC.

Lane assist seems a seperate thing that is on regardless when switched from centre

I'm not sure what value speedlimiter has over Pilot assist/Adaptive cruise as the car maintains the speed set by cruise, I should probably try it, I guess it stops you for breaking speed limit the car sees by signs you may have missed whereas the ACC does not, is that correct?

Just use the left and right arrow buttons to scroll to your desired mode and press the centre button to activate.

The arrows don't work on AAOS cars.
