I’m afraid I don’t trust Volvo one bit when it comes to “it’ll be coming soon”. I personally feel like I’ve been a software tester for Sensus for the past 2 cars and 6 years and I really don’t want to continue this with AAOS.

A few “coming soon” claims from Volvo since my first Sensus V90CC in 2017 were (1) Skype for business as an app, (2) Any other new apps at all…, (3) Apple car play filling the screen and being available on the drivers display, (4) New display themes. I’m sure there were a few more too.

Sorry for derailing the Pilot Assist thread ;-)

Blimey, you'll be wanting a fart button next or a voice automation open butt hole soon, sounds like you bought the wrong car to me if you expected a main stream brand to supply changes like that during a cars life.

When Speed limiter / ACC / Pilot Assist must be selected in the Settings menu, is there any function assigned to those left and right arrows on the left hand side of the steering wheel? Do these two buttons now do anything? Or they are just there as an inheritance from previous model years?

They have no function in AAOS cars

yet...I wish I could find the post where the OP of the thread asked Volvo and they said it should be available as an update by the time his ordered car arrived (which was very soon). The implication was this update is imminent. My dealer (Rybrooks) also thinks this will come very soon. It's a small inconvenience but I can't say it's a huge deal. I only use Pilot Assist on the motorway, and it hardly takes much effort to make the three touches on the screen to engage/disengage.

I agree, but I am not tht optimistic. AAOS cars have been out for almost 2 years now, still haven’t implemented it. Same applies for the Volvo Cars App Sensus features (eg journal).

They have had 2 years to add these, previously available features. Current models will be phased out within 1-2 years, I guess. I am afraid they will eventually cut off the development for legacy models and will be focusing more on Polestar/EV cars.

To have two buttons on the steering wheel not doing anything is a major design flaw, whatever way you look at it. Volvo has been trying to have a clean design in its cars and then they bring this
Not to mention that it would bother me a lot - I change ACC/PA frequently - ACC as default, PA only on highways but then when there is a construction on the road and there is a temporary lane marking, I have to switch to ACC. I would really love to hear their reasoning because to me this is a very simple task - arrows switching ACC/PA.

I am not saying this would be a deal-breaker but I just have a feeling that this is a beta version of a car. What everything (not necessarily visible) is only partially finished in this car?

You have to install "Audiowagon", it is available on Playstore in the car. It works, but it should not be necessary, Volvo should have built the facility into the system.

I don't agree it is a Beta test situation, I believe the absence of some features is a symptom of some of the issues in supply chain with chips, covid delays, software development delays and having to make decision to continue with the release programme of AAOS making sure base software is robust and not releasing some parts not finished. The alternative would have been to hold up production.

Fact is this is a new generation of infotainment system the release of which has coincided with some fairly rocky world events. I expect they have been concentrating on the core systems making sure they are robust, and now that what we have seems fairly solid, we just have to be patient while they release additional features. This is the beginning of a product cycle so I doubt they will be scaling it back anytime soon - wouldn't make commercial sense.

With regard to Journal - Rybrooks said it is due this month - we'll see.......
