Default Battery bypass

hi All Newbi here I cannot get my radio code from volvo because they said they could not find it on the system which I find strange , I have heard about making a connector you can put on with a small 9v battery MN1604 and you connect it to your main battery pos & neg so you can keep the code on your radio etc then you can disconnect your main battery from the vehicle, any ideas how they are made
cheers in advance

what radio have you got?

It was my understanding there is no coding system that is affected by disconnecting batteries

a lot of volvo modules are hard-coded into the system by the dealership as a method of undermining thieves and chop shops

Im sure that can be confirmed or denied by others before you disconnect

You can buy a battery code saver off eBay or similar, I had one years ago that just plugs into the cigarette lighter but it seems things have moved on and now there are EOBD ones too.

I've disconnected my battery multiple times on my V70 though with a HU-850 and never had a problem with it working again after.

These radios don't actually have a code to input, they are linked to the car by its canbus system.
