You can retro fit but the problems are:

a) Finding all the necessary fully functioning secondhand parts - I've only ever come across one 240 in all my years and that it fitted to my Italian spec 244 GLE.

b) It involves replacing the whole heater unit - one of those dreaded but possible jobs.

c) Will need gassing up afetr instal and checking for leaks.
Likely to be expensive - probably need to source parts from Europe or US with no guarantee it will all work.

Might be able to get parts from Aussie as well, as most (?all) 240s sold there have aircon. Mine (ex Aus) has, but it doesn't work... I might get it looked at at some stage, but standard 240 ventilation is pretty good, helped by the good old boxy shape that doesn't seem to trap the heat as much as modern cars with their huge front screens etc. Even on 35+ degree days I find I can travel quite comfortably in the 240, just with the blower fan on low and the windows open... John.

They do exist, I used to have an ex Hertz rental 2 litre UK spec RHD estate, That had both airbag and airco.

Default torsa too

I rescued one a few months back and trned into a peach, it sold in two days with several people fighting for it, quite literally, the only thing i would differ from the above, is , it had 14" wheels not 15" and it had upgraded stereo and speakers etc! i have lots of pics if you want to see and i did absolutely every conceivable job to it including dash bulbs, cam belt and of course fuel sender unit rebuild......
