Just bought a 164!
Hi all I'm a newbie here! I bought a 164 off eBay a few weeks ago in Salisbury . It's been off the road since 1996 going by the last tax disc. I've a lot of work put in to her already and removed the non original vinyl roof successfully . Just need to put new tyres and sort the sticky brakes and a few cosmetics. I bought a practical classics mag from feb 1991 with a buyers guide for the 164 and I got a surprise ! Here was the very car EMM637J featured with only 19000 miles at time ! So the current miles of 61000 must be correct! Any one remember the car? She has a good home here now and will be on the road very soon. Oh if any one has a drivers side wing mirror (round) and a full grille badge with / let me know!

Hi there, welcome to the forum.
It's very nice to hear of another 164 being looked after and put back into use! Please post up some photos when you can. Cheers John |

Hi, Welcome as a fellow 164 owner. I'm at the same stage by the sound of it with mine. Sticky brakes not yet looked at Structural welding sorted. currently cutting out rot from portions of sills/wheel arches not too serious. good thing about Volvos is the build quality which makes splice repairs pretty easy Looking forward to seeing some photos. I have a spare set of 5 original wheels with decent tyres if you need them. Good Luck

Well done! I've got that copy of PC myself- they've covered the 140 more recently but it's about time they had a full article on the 164.
