Mobius back and front. Tiny but a bit of a faff to set up.

run-of-the-mill nextbase 522's in both my XC's... 1080p at 60fps so good quality, reasonable price & simple to fit.

I have the 422 in one and 522 in the other. Either of them are good. Worth mentioning that the 522 comes with a polorising filter which is an option on the 422 at an additional £20

Ah I'm glad somebody has started a thread for this ......i was thinking about starting one myself.

Last year after much research I finally purchased a PORMIDO PR998 from Amazon and what a piece of kit it is.
It is actually a front and rear wide screen color low light anti dazzle pair of 1080p Sony cameras.
It also has a 12" touch screen mirror which loops over your existing mirror and is held in place with some very substantial vibration free rubber straps.
The rear view is great because when fitted is behind rear passengers so no distractions when looking back just the wide screen view which is so wide that if you are pulling onto a motorway you can see into the lane you are about to enter BEFORE EVEN LEAVING THE SLIP ROAD!!!

The cables all plug in along the top of the mirror( and can then be hidden and plumbed as you like) as well as a socket for an up to 128gb micro card (it comes with a 32gb card included free!) which when all plugged in and working records speed (you can even set audible speed excess warning)...compass bearing.....date ...time .....audio......and for an extra 50 squid you can buy a custom GPS positioner and a hard wire kit.

The GPS is recognised straight away when you plug it in and when you access the gps controls in the menu on the mirror screen you will find a bar chart of a possible 12 satellite s trying to track your position which when you are in motion even records your Lat and long position on the recording.

It is very easy to use everything being all touch screen and in the wiring loom supplied coming from the rear view camera there is even a wire take off that you can connect to the back of your reversing light bulb cluster which then turns your rear camera into a reversing camera when you select reverse and you can set up reversing lines on the mirror and alter to suit or completely cancel them).

There is far too much to say about this combo on here so I have written a review about this piece of kit on Amazon under XCO-USER for those of you who are interested in possibly purchasing this kit.....do check it out .
If you take the micro card out and put it in a usb drive and play it back on your 4k telly although the resolution is only 1080p the telly will try it's best to upscale the recording to near native 4k!

Suffice it to say that I thought this kit was so good I bought another one for my missus's car this year and had it fitted .The things it catches are unbelievable and I have found that it makes me drive with a bit more care and attention so got to be good innit?.....
You can even set it to record if your car gets knocked when unoccupied and a 24 hour surveillance @5fps mode is available and there is also a setting so it stops recording if your battery is getting too low.

Best bit of car gadget I have bought in a long while.

Basic kit is £189.00 and works straight off your cigar lighter socket but worth getting the gps positioner and hard wire kit IMO costing an extra £50.00 but worth it.So just over £200 all in.
Money very well spent.

There are quite few types of this mirror cam on Amazon but they are let down by the fact that the front camera is fixed on the back of the mirror so suffers from the positoning being preset but on the PORMIDO PR998 the front camera is separate and you can plant it on the front windscreen where you like that alone makes this kit stand out above all the rest IMO.

Some people who reviewed it had difficulty mounting the rear camera in the car on the bracket supplied inside the back window in cars with a sloping back Window(I've got an xc90 so back screen is relatively upright but my missus has C30 which is more sloped) but I reworked the bracket and it worked great close to the glass no probs.
Anybody purchasing this kit if you get stuck with the bracket PM me and I'll talk you through it.

See Amazon.co.uk and ask PORMIDO PR998 ....Be careful don't get mixed up with PORMIDO PR996 which has fixed front camera and limits mounting position so not so good.

Has anybody fitted the FitCamX? Highly recommended on some Volvo forums. Integrates very neatly and also not likely to be stolen. https://fitcamx.com

There's enough junk on the screen of my car already with that big box behind the mirror, if I put that on I wouldn't be able to see out!

Probably wouldn't suit your 3 year old car anyway .....is more of an update for older cars.
