Default Lower steering column plastic cover

Does anyone know what screws hold the lower steering column plastic cover on? I think they may be called torx, although what size and what do you call the tool and where do you buy the tool to fit them?

The first pic is of the screw head right up in the cover (bit dark I know!)

The second is the lower plastic cover

Cheers

From the pic it looks like a Torx screw. I bought a set of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blue-Spot-...item53ecfc5391 a while back, they may not be professional top quality but for things like the steering column shroud and similar screws at the bottom of deep holes they're handy, having another bit on the short end of the T also means you can use the long arm as a lever (but I'm always a bit cautious about doing that).
Torx screws are wonderful things but make sure to use the right size driver, it can sometimes be difficult to get the driver in as they are quite closely toleranced and a bit of dirt or oxidisation of the screw makes it feel like it doesn't fit, using the next size down is not an option as it will quickly wreck the screw head and the tool.

VR had a look at this today for you been meaning to do so for a couple of days. In the C30 they are T25 torx screws in there. You need something with quite a long reach so I just got the multihead screwdriver piece of the Halfords pro kit on to it.

It might help you, it might not but I doubt it is a different size.

Thanks guys.Turned out to be one of those star type ones (torx?) which I had in my extensive (unused more or less...lol) toolkit. Wonder why different screws are used for different applications?

Regards

Some are designed to just act as a deterrent (or were back in the day) when Torx was relatively "rare" and hard to find. However, as it has become more common it allows for more force in the bolt and they stand up better to torquing up than a Phillips or socket bolt I suppose [additional points of contact].
