Default 89 760 GLE Estate - How much ?

Hi,

Am thinking of selling my 760 now i have been offered a 960. Any ideas of value? It's a F Reg GLE B280E engined Estate in Dark Blue with a later (92) 960 interior in tan leather.

Everything works, even the aircon! 198k just completed a round trip to Edinburgh and back, over 1200 miles in 5 days.

New tyres, 7 months MOT, New windscreen, exhaust, starter, and so on, goes like stink when u need it to, otherwise trundles about very happily, never let me down in the eight years or more i've owned it, runs well. Any ideas how much it would be worth? Body is ok, not great though showing it's age, like me !

Cheers

Iain

Default Values?

Question. If the 760 is good why part with it for a 960?

And an answer, and stating the obvious really. The V6 is possibly the least desirable 700 due to the complexity of the V6 (over and above the 740), and the lower fuel economy - the majority of these cars are still run as utility vehicles by people on a budget.

If you had a really low mileage example wth good provenance (low ownership and history) and in very good condition you might find a buyer at £1000. With a high mileage and many owners and in a condition indicating work is needed I'd value it at less than a comparable 740.

The real answer lies with the market - it's only worth what someone is prepared to pay.

Just a few thoughts.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, wasnt expecting much for it, certainly not £1000, and it doesnt need anything as far as i am aware, have spent a reasonable amount on it over the years replacing stuff as and when needed, or not including a later interior and headlining.

Just would rather it went to someone who will care about it a bit as i have got quite fond of the old girl. Has years left in her i reckon, has breezed through every MOT, gets serviced every year irrespective of use, will be sad to see her go.

Must be worth a couple of hundred to someone surely, really dont want to send her to the scrappy, especially when she has so much life left in her. Made the recent trip to Edinburgh and back seem like a walk in the park compared to the previous journey in my Almera to Cornwall.

I guess i'll put it on ebay and see what happens, if not then weigh her in as cant afford to keep both, much as i'd like to. I'm not looking to make a profit or anything near it, more to save it from a grisly fate..

Cheers

Iain

In answer to the question i dont think the V6 is overly complicated, certainly not in comparison to the 960, Ive found it to be simple to work on and extremely reliable for the time ive had it, far more so than things half its age or mileage. From memory i think it has four owners inc me, so not a lot for a 20 something year old is it?

The PRV is something that scares people, but the fact that yours is just under 200k proves they aren't that bad!

Condition sells these, if they look shabby then you should only expect £400 or so based on recent ebay sales. If the bodywork is good then you'll get good money but you say it's 'not great though' so I'd say probably £500 max!

By the sounds of it is a nice car so why upgrade to a 960? Personally, I'd keep the 760. Rarer, cooler yet basically the same car!

But yeah if you do decide to sell then ebay is the best place with a link here in the 700 series Sale section

Put up some pics though, I very much doubt you'll get much interest without.
