Default Squeaks and rattles!!

My 57 plate V70 seems to develop rattles as quick as I manage to sort them. After having sorted 2 on both corners of the dash and the centre console with wd-40 I have one around the passenger door window. This one goes away if the window is slightly down. I have sprayed wd-40 pretty much everywhere around the door and surrounding area between every joint still no difference. It seems to be coming from the top of the door so would not point to anything inside the door such as mechanism etc. Any advice would be appreciated. Is it me or do cars now seem to have more squeaks and rattles. My Ford Scorpio which was 10 years old when I got rid of it was better than this! Progress!

My month old 2010 model V70 2.0D SE has more rattles and squeaks than any other car I have owned. These include the roof lining, dash, seat, windows and tailgate trim.

My car also has erratic window operation, a vibrating clutch and parking brake that will not automatically release anymore. The car has covered 1k miles!

It has misaligned rear doors and dreadful paint.

Build quality?.... Rubbish!

Another squeaking and rattling Volvo owner - S80's suffer form this. The recent drop in temperature has made some intermittent noises more or less continuous. Very disappointing. My previous car (a Vauxhall Vectra at 5 years old) had fewer noises.

Mine (2009 xc70) has a couple of squeeks, especially around the rear hatch. A common problem apparently.

However, the vehicle is SO quiet overall, it's a relatively stress-free ride (well, mine is, anyway!)

2010MY V70 RD, 59 reg, just passed 5000 miles. No squeaks or rattles as such but there is a bit of a "buzz" at certain frequencies, can't quite determine if its a road speed or engine speed thing or where it is coming from (in the dash somewhere) from the drivers side it sounds like its coming from the passenger side but bizzarrely when sat in the passenger side it sounds like its coming from the drivers side.
The other annoying rattle comes from the passenger seat belt when its not in use - sometimes it retracts with the buckle facing outwards and it then rattles against the B pillar - just have to reach across and turn it around and its quiet again.
I wonder if the various noises are more noticable due to the car being pretty quiet overall otherwise. Even with the buzz its much smoother and quieter than my previous 57 reg Audi A6 2.0d

I think you may have a point in the fact that because the car is quiet anyway, there is less chance of any rattles been masked by road noise etc. Still annoying though!

Its funny I have been told that a few times. I don't mind on a few hundred pound banger but on a 30k car think its bad to be honest. If we as new(ish) car owners have to put up with things going wrong and noises hear and there why buy a new car in the first place why not save ALOT of money and buy a much cheaper used car. Thats what I will be doing next time, or keep this one for a while.
