Default Sat nav update

I’m sure I read on here but can’t find it with a search about updating the sat nav (the later one with the hard drive) and being able to do it in stages whilst turning the car off rather than having to do it all in one go. Can anyone confirm this is the case?

In answer to my own question. Yes you can stop and start the process, in fact it even gives you the option to pause it and use the navigation feature.

It’s 2018. The car hadn’t been updated since it was new and was still on the 2010 version.

You can go from 2010 to the 2018 update in one go, takes about 3 hrs, I did it in one hit. Key in Pos1, battery charger connected to the car the entire time, and everything turned off that was not needed (lights, radio, fan, etc). Left car in locked garage with key in car....

Official Source for original DVDs: Volvo dealer

You may find second hand original DVDs on your favourite local auction or second-hand site.

Just ensure the part number applies to your vehicle, there are 2 versions of nav system made by Volvo, and the map DVDs are different per system.

It's written on the DVD box label

You need to know the Model Year (MY) of your vehicle, and then compare to what is shown on the box.
