4 Bike carrier ???
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had good/bad experiences using at towbar mounted 4 bike carries (Thule Euroclassic, Mottez, ...), ideally on an XC90 or estate ? Cheers Chris |

Have friend who has Thule 909 with 4th bike holder - he's very happy with it, but it's an expensive piece of kit.

It's not quite what you're after, but I swapped to a 3-bike towbar mounted Thule job last summer after my 3-bike 'on-the-car' one collapsed and knackered the boot lid. It's great, on in 2 minutes, swings open to get into the boot and everything. Only issue with the XC90 that we now have is that I can't really see the biles anymore
Just to keep myself happy, I have one of the dumbell type ropes which I attach to the upright of the carrier and close in the boot just for paranoia. |

I use the Pendle towbar mounted rack for 4 cycles. It's sturdy, safe and fairly easy to use. See www.pendle-bike.co.uk
Had it nine years now and I'm happy with it. John

I have a Maxxraxx one which is pretty good. Like it's been buiklt by a blacksmith.
Had it 4yrs now. easy to use and confident my bike will still be there at the end of my journey. British made too i think. http://www.maxxraxx.co.uk/ |

They seem to be both good alternatives. However, if you take into considerations that you need to add the lighting board and the fact that they don't tilt (which might be necessary with our XC90) the Tule still has the edage at a small premium.
May I ask what car yours were fitted to ? Cheers Chris |

Mine was fitted to an Octavia estate then the V50. Cost of lighting board around £15. The MaxxRaxx pivots at the foot of the stand so you can access the boot.
I would not entertain a strap on. Bike rack that is!! Last edited by Loskie; Mar 19th, 2010 at 16:06. |

MyPendle came complete with lightboard, it's been fitted to Sierra Sapphire, V70 & V40.
