Default Beware of fraudulent seller Gumtree/Ebay

Hi,

I haven't been around on here as I am mainly on T5D5. But, I have been sold wheels that were not as described and the seller has turned out to be a real nasty piece of work.

It appears he buys and sells stuff, I also understand he has a Volvo C70 which he is looking to sell. Additionally he may come across more Volvo parts that he will no doubt want to sell on. Please do not buy from this seller.

You can see how I have been conned here : http://forums.t5d5.org/topic/29232-t...r/#entry287242

Got a lovely leather sofa for sale, paid £3,500 for it in January sale, only asking £100 for it.
Now what was my address and mobile and home number again?

Catch my drift?

The only thing I can suggest is asking for a recipt from whoever done the refurb and persuing them if he ever had the alloys refurbished. They are dangerous and the comoany are liable for any problems down the road because of their dodgy repairs.

Other than that. Good luck

Sounds like a case for the small claims court. You have been sold something not fit for purpose. Send a recorded delivery letter first, requesting a refund within a reasonable time, say 7 days, keep a copy, explain in factual terms and state you will issue a county court summons. If you win, can't see why not he then must pay , or face a CCJ against his name. You then have the option of bailiffs. Solicitors could do all this for you if you want to or do it yourself.
I assume that gumtree will have his details ?
Always pay via PayPal, never use cash !

I've never trusted gumtree.
Presumably have missed out on 'bargins' here and there, but at least ebay has some kind of recompense system.
You might wish to consider revising the name and address bit of the post - obviously done with good intentions, but you may recall the chap in Dublin who published cctv pictures of a burglar to try and id him and was sued as a result!

"real nasty piece of work"?I don't see how he is.Out of order, yes, BUT then you need to choice better in whom collects items for you..

If you have any balls about yourself (you have his address) take the trip to his house and introduce yourself (no need for violence) just so he knows you know where he lives..

A bit of advice for you though..Putting his tell numbers and home address on a public forum could end you up in court if he gets harassed..

Your cousin was your eyes when he collected the wheels and he didn't spot that (very obvious) damage.
You say your cousin knows nothing about cars. If that's the case, he could have photographed them and sent you pictures instantly so you could assess them before giving the go ahead. That said, Stevie Wonder could have spotted the damage.
If the advert didn't have both sides of the wheels shown, you should have asked.
The seller may not have been 100% open but you've allowed yourself to be deceived by not taking basic precautions.
You're putting a lot of effort into clawing back your money.
The same effort should have gone into protecting yourself with a distance purchase.

Is there any member on this forum that you will not have a go at, whether that be a fix for their car, a for sale ad where you are trying to disrupt the sale, a repair, a wheels pick up, something in the lounge, or something else. I am all for a bit of sarcasm and a bit of fun - but your comments are a tad - lets say - 'tiring'.

I think someone said you were 'curmudgeonly' (funsponge)

Quite rightly so

Ok - fire ahead with your best against me as I am sure you will, rather than address your own issues. !!

Cheers boss!!

If I have an alternative opinion, I am happy to express it.
You have an alternative opinion to me....... great.
The OP thinks he's been conned and I don't wholly agree so do you honestly think I'm not going to offer a view for fear of not having your approval?
It's strange how you choose to highlight selected posts I make whilst ignoring the ones that don't support your narrow minded view of me.
You sound like the one with issues VR. I've thought that for a long time.
