Default Bolt on upgrades?

Hi folks recently got a 02 v70 D5 manual in metallic green.
Really liking the drive so far. She's done a fair few miles 171k but still feels pretty tight.
I was just wondering if there's any possibility of cross platform/facelift parts that bolt up the this p2 platform that may enhance or help performance/efficiency??

Thanks in advance
Will

Congrats on your new ride.
I sold my '02 V70 base petrol (they don't let us play with diesel here) with 198,600 miles to the first guy who test drove it. He said it was the most solid car he'd ever driven.

If diesel can be tuned at all, the tuners must be on your side of the pond.
Do keep in mind that wanting zoom from a diesel is where "Dieselgate" came from. Want zoom?, get a motorcycle.

If you go the "tuner" route, get a system which allows you to switch between "sport and economy". Without spark control it's hard to imagine what can be done with a diesel engine.

Maybe an exhaust upgrade?

For economy, you're ahead of the game with a diesel to begin with. Again, due to the virtual absence of diesels here, all I can suggest is a light right foot and properly inflated tires.

Completely skip any silly, abbreviated "cold air intake" system.

The single best upgrade I've done to my 06 d5 V70 is to upgrade the rear sway / anti roll bar to the 21mm solid bar. The car handles so much better now with the back feeling firmly planted on corners, especially at speed.

I got mine after the bushes were an MOT fail this year. £180 from VolvoTradeParts after reading countless reports of it being the best bang for your buck upgrade.

Highly recommend, you'll be shocked.

If you want performance, remap is certainly worth considering.

The euro 3 D5 engine on the completely stock parts you already have will happily put out over 200bhp. Volvo offer the exact same engine (same turbo, same injectors etc) for use in marine applications and offers up to 220bhp at 4,000rpm, just using different sofware.

I suspect that would be quite laggy on the road, but still fun non the less.

Thanks for the replies folks. Not really to fussed with heaps of extra power. Wondered if the newer facelift 185 d5 injectors maybe had a better spray pattern, which would help in fuel economy and aid power along the way.

They wouldn't fit plus several other reasons why that's a non starter (literally ).

They only get 22 bhp more standard anyway on the Euro 4 so bigger gains can be had using software and the original hardware.

Ah I see that's good to know. I guess most generic flash maps will probably do the job.
