Me too, I liked it originally.

As I said , if I were in the market, I’d have had a look.

I went from a ‘79 , 244 to an ‘83 240DL , the difference was amazing.

You’ve done OK. 👍👍

I think you’ll find it’s no Barge.

A large but nimble little sweetie!😎

😀. Missed that saga, must’ve been before I entered the Volvo fold.

It’s funny how the horrors of projects stay with you, I still shudder after 35+ years after replacing layshaft in Dolomite 1500 box, all went well till job complete, only to find the detent balls and springs in my tray rather than in the box!!!!

My one and only foray into auctions as I couldn’t get rid of it any other way😀😀

Lesson learned…..

Cheers

Alan, apropos the radio. As with the gauges, that is a really nice original fit unit and I think a modern one would perhaps look a little out of place ...

I understand that it is now possible to fit modern innards into such units. Why not have the best of both worlds - do that for sound quality, versatility, phone, etc. - while at the same time keeping the appearance that Mr. Volvo intended?

Regards, John.

Some time back, Luke worked for an independent RR/Bentley place. I think he still has nightmares....................

You mentioning the Dolomite box and an associated nightmare reminds me of removing and rebuilding then reinstalling the gearbox from my Hyundai Stellar over the course of a weekend.
It was only on the sunday afternoon when i used the test drive to go to A&E that i discovered i'd done the entire job with a broken metacarple in my left paw. No wonder when using a hammer and punch my finger was flapping about like a leaf on a tree on a windy autumn day and causing me pain!

Yes, I think so, can’t find a definite answer.🤔

Addendum:

Dug out old wireless, 1500m , 198mhz? all quiet, so no Dave, you’re right!👍☹️
