Default Injector replacement question

Dear all,

I would like to perform a DIY injector replacement on my 2007 V50 2.0D and I have a couple of questions, hope that someone experienced can help me

1. I have seen injector replacement guide from VIDA, and it says that it is necessary to remove intake manifold. But from what I see under the bonnet it seems that it is possible to remove injectors with intake manifold in place. Whats the deal?

2. In forums I have read of cases where people disconnect injector connections with engine running and it causes ECM to not recognise it when plugged back in. If i dicsonnect the battery when replacing injectors, and put correct class injectors (I have class 5) back in, will the ECM see that they have been replaced or everything will be ok?

Thanks in advance!

I've not personally done it but I think the tricky part of changing the injector with the inlet manifold in situ is access to the clip to remove the leak off host connector, being able to move the supply pipe out of the way and getting tools in to lever the injector out...

With regard to your other query, if you remove the plug whilst the engine is running the ECU will detect the injector as open circuit and may disable it. I should however re-detect it and enable it when restarted (ignition off and on again). You do not need to disconnect the battery but keep the key out whilst you're doing it.

The ECM cannot detect the class of injectors, that has to be programmed into the ECM if you change them.

Thank you very much for reply!

Yes the ease of accsess seems like very logical pont. I guess i will have to do an experiment if it is possible to do it or not

Good to hear that there should not be problem with ECM if it is not activated and injector class is the same!

Thanks again for valuable info!
